Each Monday you should sit down and plan out your home learning based around your other committments like sports, music and dance practices. This will help you to become more responsible for your own routines and learning. At Year 6 we expect you to be doing:
  • Approximately 10-20 minutes of reading a night.
  • Practising your spelling words AND learning their meanings.
  • Learning and practising your basic facts (using the hear, see, do method). Click here for more information on this.
  • We also expect that you should be choosing a range of other activities on the grid sheet in your homework book. You can also find links to other great homework ideas on this page and other pages. For example on the Maths page are great websites about statistics and graphs.
  • Check out the Nature's Fresh Home Learning projects below - there are some cool projects like building a go-kart or a rocket!
  • Please remember that many of the after-school activities you already do count as home learning - because you're learning. That's the key to it - work on things that you will learn and use for the rest of your life.
